Peace

Peace is a rustic retreat located on a wooded and sloping terrain near the summit of Le Maelström Mountain in Lac-Beauport. Serving as both the starting and ending point for several hiking trails developed directly on the vast site, it is the ideal refuge for outdoor enthusiasts. Adrien Williams Adrien Williams Adrien Williams The project revolves around the meeting of two volumes with complementary functions. As a point of orientation between Hochschwab, Wetterkogel, Karlhochkogel and Fölzsattel, it replaces the existing hut and appears as a simple, clear volume in the high alpine terrain. The setting in the largely natural landscape is an interplay of site-specific characteristics (topography, weather sides, view), function and form - a combination of architecture and site. Due to the logistically challenging location, a prefabricated timber construction was chosen as a sensible building form.  David Schreyer David Schreyer David Schreyer David Schreyer The formal realisation of the new hut is derived both fro... The predecessor of this water area is Xiu River, one of the five major rivers in Jiangxi. Xu Yingda From the 1950s to the 1970s, the Xihai Barrage, known as Asia's largest dam, was built here, and it formed a unique island in the lake area: like clusters of jungle floating above the water. And what we hope to present is a cluster of small wooden cabins floating above the jungle. Xu Yingda The design includes a 24-meter-high observation tower, a multi-functional hall, and 19 prefabricated forest wooden cabins. The fusion gesture between the building and the lush natural... More
