Vocational school for construction trades

The new vocational school for construction trades is located in a central area of Zurich, Switzerland. Gunz & Künzle Architects designed the building to maximize the number of classrooms while also creating valuable public spaces for the neighborhood. The slender building follows the street and creates a spacious courtyard that connects to the public functions on the school's first floor. Helsinki Congress Paasitorni

The lobby of Paasitorni, built in the 1920s, received the attention it needed thanks to a redesign of the interior. The aim was to support the versatile meeting and event space and envigorate the stunning lobby. We incorporated new colors to harmonize with the original interior. The result adds a touch of contrast in the form of 21st-century design. We selected lightweight, movable and adjustable furniture to enable the desired flexibility of the space. The Siltasaari Hall was also renovated to serve as a space for multiple uses, from lectures to cocktail parties. In accordance with a revision of the special building regulations, the building is now being preserved and for the most part placed under protection.  The halls are being renovated, reinforced and technically improved with great care and attention to the existing structure in anticipation of their use for public events and large gatherings. The building’s industrial charm will be maintained. In consultation with the historical preservation authorities, interior modifications are based on the principle of con... More

Chefslab flagship space

Chefslab is the result of Sergio Perez’s idea of his ideal gastronomic space. He desired a place for organizing exclusive events and cooking workshops. This is Chefslab flagship space. The main challenge of this project resided in the low budget and the preexistence whilst creating an unique experience. The overall design aim is to focus on minimal interventions in order to achieve maximum impact: _Ordering the space by dividing the area in one silver served open-plan room and a couple of black/darker servant zones (kitchen, laboratories, and storage). The glittering silver room is where all activities will take place. Although, this main space can be divided according&nb... More

Historical Museum Frankfurt

Situated in the city centre of Frankfurt, between the town hall and the Main river, is the completely refurbished and newly extended Historical Museum Frankfurt. Kossmann.dejong designed three exhibitions – one temporary and two permanent – that highlight the many faces of Frankfurt. For the ‘Typically Frankfurt!’ exhibition, which connects the entrance with the new building, Kossmann.dejong designed a snow globe – one of the most ubiquitous tourist souvenirs – to start the museum experience. Inside the globe, visitors encounter eight clichéd representations of the city illustrated in eight different scenes built as scale models made by eight international artists. Visitors choose which cliché they would like to see and a spe... More
