In the Athenian suburb of Glyfada, a neglected 97-square-meter, first-floor apartment from the 1970s became the canvas for the Green Path Project—a transformation into a contemporary law office. The renovation was grounded in in-depth research into the local context, materials, and colors, resulting in a functional and uplifting workplace.

The concept was sparked by the experience of afternoon sunlight filtering through a mature wisteria vine, casting shifting shadows across the worn-out floor. This biophilic moment inspired the conversion of the building’s disused air shaft and front terrace into green oases that now surround the interior workspaces. Enhancements to daylight access and ventilation, paired with the use of natural, tactile materials, helped create a calm and health-supportive environment.
Removing existing partition walls allowed for a reimagined layout. A reception area in midnight blue sets the tone, contrasting with the adjacent verdant garden and concealing a compact black kitchen tucked behind folding doors. Three naturally lit workspaces now open to views of greenery, complemented by communal areas including a conference room and bathroom. Walnut veneer and double-sided transparent glass partitions subtly define zones while maintaining a sense of visual continuity.

All built-in furniture was custom-designed by the architect and crafted locally using walnut and brushed oak veneer, with sustainability and regional economy in mind. Plant pots were hand-made on site by local metalworkers. The epoxy floor, poured in situ, features a distinctive olive-leaf green path—0.9 meters wide and 20 meters long—that threads through the space. This glossy surface connects the interior with the exterior and reflects light to enhance the sense of spaciousness.
A close collaboration between architect, client, and craftsmen was key to successfully converting a compact residence into a modern office that meets all technical and functional needs while preserving the warmth and character of a space shaped by natural light and living greenery.
