Founded in 2021 by Aneri Mehta and Khushali Chawda, ACKM Studio is a Mumbai-based multidisciplinary design practice that views spaces not as backdrops, but as protagonists of lived experiences. The studio crafts spatial narratives across diverse scales — from immersive installations and cultural spaces to luxury residences, retail, and hospitality — always striving to balance function with emotion, and detail with atmosphere.
At ACKM Studio, spaces are imagined as evolving environments rather than static shells, where tactility and movement form an essential language of design. Each project is an inquiry into how materials, proportions, and subtle shifts can shape lived experiences.
Aneri, an architect, and Khushali, an interior designer, bring diverse perspectives and complementary skills to the practice. Their yin-yang dynamic shapes the studio’s identity, merging architectural discipline with interior sensibility. Their design philosophy rests on the belief that spaces should grow with the people who inhabit them, responding to shifting moods, changing light, and the passage of time. While their work draws from modernist principles of clarity, restraint, and function, it is reinterpreted through an emotional, cultural, and contemporary lens.
Whether retail environments, luxury homes, or public interventions, ACKM Studio conceives each space as a living installation. The goal is to craft emotionally engaging, immersive environments that spark curiosity, invite interaction, and leave lasting impressions. Rather than designing for passive viewing, they create experiences that engage the body, evoke movement, and embed memory. Specializing in luxury with substance, the studio designs refined and intelligent spaces that establish presence beyond surface-level aesthetics.
One of their standout works, the interactive light installation Lite of Passage, was a part of the 13th edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival in 2024. Visitors moved through a tunnel of illuminated spheres that transformed with their presence, symbolizing shifting perceptions and personal growth.
Commissioned by Ithra, Rhythm of Sand in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, is another kinetic installation inspired by the ever-shifting red sand dunes of the desert, capturing their natural rhythm through light, movement, and form.
Other notable projects include the CSMVS Museum Shop, a 1,000 sq. ft. cultural retail space in Mumbai; Perona stores at DLF and Mumbai International Airport; the Evolve Artisanal Showroom in Mumbai; and The Kin Hotel, a boutique hospitality project in Mumbai, and several luxury residences across India.
In a short span of time, ACKM Studio has been recognized in leading publications including Architectural Digest, Living Etc, STIR, and Mid-Day. Their growing body of work continues to challenge conventions of interior design by placing experience at its core, offering environments that are at once thoughtful, tactile, and timeless.
