ADS (All Design Studio) was founded in 2016 by the Franco-Chinese designer Gnial Liang in Shanghai. Gnial Liang previously the exclusive Asian interior and product designer for Maison Margiela, a pioneering fashion brand. His portfolio includes collaborations across diverse projects from five-star hotels, global retail stores, luxurious residences, small-scale museums, to high-end restaurants.
Comprising a multi-background team from Europe, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, ADS Design Studio specializes primarily focusing on commercial spaces. Their broad expertise extends to architectural renovations, urban renewal, commercial and entertainment spaces, installation innovation, furniture crafting, material exploration, and experimental studies in retail experiences. Operating across 25 cities in China, including Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Chengdu, they've also established a footprint in Dijon and Toulon, France. Notable projects include injecting fresh vitality into Beijing's Wangfujing Street through the Dong'an Market renovation, introducing the Lieben Bar at 758 Julu Road in Shanghai as an enclave for electronic music and exquisite beverages, revitalizing Changsha's 20-year-old Wangfujing Department Store at Wuyi Square spanning over 80,000 ㎡, and planning an extensive 80,000 ㎡ comprehensive shopping center in Ningbo's northern area of Tianyi Square as part of the city's urban renewal. Recently, they transformed an 800-square-meter standalone building in Puyuan, an ancient Jiangnan town in Jiaxing, into Coscia, a distinctive boutique store.
ADS is dedicated to analyzing and researching urban consumer habits and interests and innovating within the fields of art and fashion. They start from the actual needs and functions of people, conducting research and logical analysis of market trends and current popular tendencies for each different project. This approach ensures that each project possesses a unique visual effect and superior quality in its details. ADS provides collaborative platforms for various artists are integral to their methodology, fostering creative breakthroughs by merging art with technology.
In 2018, ADS hosted the "Art de Vivre" French Art Furniture Exhibition in Beijing, as invited by the French Embassy in China. In 2022, they involvement in the installation exhibition design at Design Shanghai and the large-scale film character exhibition by Universal Pictures in Chengdu.
ADS's works have been consecutively featured for three years (2020-2023) by the prestigious trend data company WGSN. They've been published in ACUMEN and Numero (French edition) fashion magazines in France, been showcased in Bob Magazine (a South Korean trend publication) for two years, included in the 2021 Frame design authority organization, featured in the 2022 Chinese Interior Yearbook, and covered in various print media such as "IDEAT", "ELLEDECO", "MD" design magazines, and the French newspaper "Le Monde." Additionally, they've been selected for multiple globally renowned design awards, including the Innovative Architecture Award at Germany's Iconic Architecture Awards, the Best Bar Design Gold Award for DMBA in the UK in 2018 and 2019, the Best Retail Design Gold Award at Singapore's SIDA, the Best Interior Silver Award by the USA's IDA, and awards like DNA in Paris, and the Kyoto Restaurant Space Design Award in Japan, among others.
