Ballistic Architecture Machine
BAM is an award-winning transdisciplinary design firm with a portfolio of over 150 projects in the realm of urban landscape, from municipal solid waste management and climate solutions to cultural economies, public realm, and green infrastructure. Across highly divergent project types, BAM follows a thread exploring the relationship between humans and the biosphere, encapsulated in the mantra "Nature is an Idea."
At BAM, we believe that landscapes, as opposed to buildings, should be foregrounded as the icons of our cities. This reversal of the traditional design hierarchy enables us to address the environmental and social challenges of our century. Rooted in the understanding of landscape as a constructed cultural medium, our work transforms the confluence of urban spaces, boundaries, and peripheries into sustainable and celebrated spaces, challenging the conventional definitions of Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Architecture.
BAM is widely recognized for its contributions to design fields, including Asia Pacific Design Council's Design Studio of the Year (2023), the Kyoto Design Award's Top 100 Global Design Firms (2023), and receiving Architizer A+ Special Mention as Best Landscape Firm. Our co-founders have also lectured at international institutions such as Harvard Graduate School of Design, Savannah College of Art and Design, The University of Hong Kong, India Leaf Foundation, and the Philippines Green Building Council. Individually, BAM's projects have garnered over 50 international awards, including the Grand Prix du Design Landscape of the Year (2023-2024), Muse Award, MIPIM Award (2018), A' Award (2023), Dezeen Award (2022), and the Architizer A+ Awards (2021-2024). This integration of accolades highlights both BAM's achievements in design and its academic contributions.
