Buzzo Spinelli Architecture
Isabelle Buzzo and Jean-Philippe Spinelli established Buzzo Spinelli in 2014 following their graduation from ENSA Marseille.
Operating from Corsica and Paris, the studio navigates the intersection between the vibrant urban energy and the serene, untamed tranquility of an island embraced by the Mediterranean Sea.
In 2016, they successfully delivered their inaugural public commission, the Maison des pêcheurs - fishermen facility, situated on the Bonifacio port, which garnered multiple awards.
Recognized as laureates of the AJAP in 2016, they have since been honored with various national and European awards, including the prestigious 40UNDER40 prize, celebrating architects poised to “shape the future of European architecture through innovative theory and practice”.
With a wealth of experience in crafting designs for distinctive, sensitive, and poetic sites, their approach is anchored in a pursuit of enduring significance. Each intervention is meticulously situated within the historical, cultural, and landscape context of the site, acknowledging its sensory and memorial dimension while envisioning its future evolution.
The studio has also delivered:
Mantinum, a vertical link between the port and the citadel of Bastia
Aldilonda, a pedestrian footbridge around the citadel of Bastia
Montlaur Nursery in the citadel of Bonifacio
The studio is currently working on:
The construction of a higher education school in Paris 15 (design phase)
The renovation of a Haussmannian building in Paris 8 (construction in progress)
The extension of the port of Bonifacio with the creation of a pedestrian footbridge and mooring (preliminary design in progress)
