CAB Architects is a residential architecture and interior design firm led by husband-and-wife team Brian Hagood and Charisma Panchapakesan. We are passionate about residential design and believe it to be one of the most important forms of architecture. Our aim is to create places that reflect the people who occupy them. When done thoughtfully, we believe that modern design can create warm and inviting spaces, providing a place of enjoyment for years to come.
OUR DESIGN APPROACH
Our approach to each project is guided by a set of design principles. Every great home begins with a layout that reflects the lifestyles of its occupants. To give shape to these spaces, we seek to define them with a thoughtful balance of openness and hierarchy, coordinating detail and structure to provide each room with a sense of place. It is also fundamental that each space have a meaningful connection to the outdoors, be it a simple framed view or a porch opening onto your garden. Homes need warmth and comfort; they should be places that urge you to linger. To that end, we add detail and texture to our interiors to create an inviting atmosphere. We seek to finish these spaces with lasting beauty that goes beyond the latest trends, giving a sense of timelessness to each project.
OUR SERVICES
We begin each job with a thorough understanding of our client's vision for their home, as well as a detailed study of the project site. After the right solution is identified by review of schemes and costs, we develop a complete package of construction drawings and specifications, working closely with our structural and HVAC consultants. This includes meeting with our clients to establish the home's interior design, identifying cabinetry, finishes, and fixtures. When ready for construction, our contacts in the industry allow us to connect our clients with experienced contractors. As the building takes shape, we keep a watchful eye through regular site meetings, ensuring the design is executed to a high standard of quality.
CHARISMA PANCHAPAKESAN, OAA
Charisma is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where she earned a Master of Architecture degree with commendations. Before returning to her hometown of Toronto, she spent several years working in New York City, focusing on high-end residential and retail design. Her interests include the exploration of other creative disciplines, such as graphic design and fine arts.
BRIAN HAGOOD, OAA
Brian is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture with honours. He spent ten years working in New York City specializing in renovations to Brooklyn brownstones before relocating to Toronto and focusing his interests on the local housing types.
