Cafer Bozkurt Architecture

Born in Istanbul in 1945, Cafer Bozkurt earned his architectural degree from İTÜ, Faculty of Architecture with honours in 1968. Since 1971 he runs his own firm and is the president of Cafer Bozkurt Architecture. Since its foundation the firm has completed a great number of projects in Turkey and abroad, ranging from distinguished residential settlements, holiday resorts and recreational architecture to cultural and educational facilities. Bozkurt is highly recognized and specialized in restorations and working in Historical Context. The firm has been nominated for the Aga Khan Architectural Award for nine times and received a variety of National Architecture Awards. Bozkurt is frequently invited to speak on a range of topics on architecture and throughout his career has served as a design critic, juror and lecturer at schools of architecture. Bozkurt was the president of the Turkish Architects Association during 2002-2004. He was also one of the founders of the Istanbul Architects Association which he presided during 2005-07. Between 2008-2011, he served as a member and the chairman of the Historical Heritage Committee of İstanbul No 4 responsible for the Historical Peninsula. Later, between 2011-2013, he served as a member and the chairman of the Historical Heritage Committee of İstanbul No 3 responsible for the Bosphorus.
