Cimaise is a 34-person architecture practice based in Sherbrooke and Montreal, active since 1960 within Quebec’s public and institutional fabric. The office brings together complementary expertise in design, project management and building-envelope performance in a single collaborative studio, working with school service centers, health and social service networks, Hydro-Québec, the Canadian Space Agency and other public institutions across the province.
Cimaise is recognized for precise, context-aware architecture that balances clear forms, carefully chosen materials and a long-term understanding of how buildings age and perform. The practice works across scales, from targeted asset-renewal and envelope interventions to new civic, educational and community facilities, approaching each project as a specific response to its users, site and public role.
A dedicated in-house roofing and envelope team, certified by the Association des maîtres couvreurs du Québec (AMCQ), gives the firm a hands-on knowledge of construction that directly informs design decisions. Environmental responsibility is a central value, supported by LEED-accredited staff and BIM-based workflows, and many of Cimaise’s projects have been recognized with awards for architectural and design excellence in Quebec
