With 7 years’ experience in the world of architecture, Benjamin Exbrayat is far from a beginner. Starting out as a project manager, he decided to establish his own practice in 2013, to give free rein to his creativity. From private apartments to large scale housing projects, it’s all grist to his mill; everyone has a right to a home. Whether working on interior fit-out projects or integrating an apartment block into an established urban environment, it’s the challenge that drives him. Benjamin enjoys applying himself to a very specific brief, as with the project he has been focused on for the last 6 months, where Asian-inspired housing is combined with completely open-plan living spaces, in the style of New York lofts that are much copied, but rarely successfully realised here in France. A forest of bamboo surrounds each of these loft-type units, combining aesthetics with sociability, qualities that are too often forgotten. This is the exacting approach the architect has brought to providing a family, who have bought offplan, with a different vision of how to use the available space. A story of professional expertise, told through the intimate vision of a family of five.
