The studio was founded in the eighties in Trapani by Rosario Cusenza and Maria Salvo.
Rosario Cusenza takes a degree in architecture in Florence in 1979 with G. Klaus Koening. In th same year and during the following year he collaborates to the Leonardo Ricci town planning course. Immediately after graduation, he begins a long professional collaboration with Cristiano Toraldo di Francia, founder with Adolfo Natalini of the Superstudio, with which he designs and builds an open-air theater and a bank. The long working relationship with these important architects and the seventies avant-garde Florentine environment will be decisive for his professional and intellectual education.
Maria Salvo takes a degree in architecture in Florence in 1980 and immediately begins the profession with Rosario Cusenza founding the homonym studio. The studio is oriented towards the realization of both public and private architecture. The architecture produced by the cusenza+salvo studio occurs mainly through simple volumes and measured formal experiments that address forcefully the project to effect an intensive dialogue with the landscape.
