Drew Mandel Architects was established in Toronto, Canada in 2004. The firm is known for thoughtful, intelligent design, beautifully realized. Projects include private and multi-unit residences, offices, retail spaces, landscapes, interior design and often include product design to carry out the vision. The work is rigorous, well-crafted and exhibits a committment of care for natural light, detailed material assembly, context and movement through space.
The firm has been recognized for design excellence since its inception receiving honours from the City of Toronto Urban Design Awards, the OAA Awards of Excellence, AZ Awards, Designlines’ Best in Design Awards, and Canadian Interiors Best of Canada Awards, among others.
DMA’s work has appeared in numerous local, national and international publications and exhibitions including Canadian Architect, Canadian Interiors, Dwell, Wallpaper, Toronto Life, Azure, Designlines, Dezeen, Globe & Mail, Architizer, and 20+Change, and Harbourfront. DMA has also been published in books on Canadian architecture and has also contributed to the larger public discourse on architecture and design through participation with programs presented on CBC Radio and TV, OAA, TSA, and IDS.
The firm’s design intent for each project is to develop a place that connects to its context and reflects the end-user’s needs, personality, and brand. The practice focuses on the careful control and assembly of materials from large-scale construction down to fine tactile details.
