Estudio Borrachia arquitectos
Estudio Borrachia arquitectos is a complex work platform founded by the architects Oscar Borrachia and Alejandro Borrachia, which moves in three complementary and interacting directions: (1) the academic activity that allows, in addition to teaching and through IGEO (Research Institute in design and georeferencing of the FADAU-UM) develop multiple projects and academic research from the Faculty of Architecture related to the problems of society and cities in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental entities, neighborhood groups and institutions of public good. Whether these are urban or on a smaller scale, social is an important and distinctive feature of this line of work. (2) Through PyRE (UM Building Planning and Realization) the study is in charge of the project and works management of all the undertakings carried out in this field by the University of Morón. (3) And finally, there is private development or that which depends on smaller clients, where the field of action is mainly concentrated in individual housing.
These three directions, private commissions, academia and research, merge, leaving as a result a series of examples that are difficult to see as architecture in the conventional sense of the term; artifacts, complex assembly machines and artisan production, and imperfect reactions to the contemporary megalopolis, populate the palette of works and projects that make up the imaginary of this innovative studio based in Buenos Aires.
