Fiurdelin is a botanical illustration studio on Lake Como, Italy, that draws plants, fungi, and insects from specimens and sells the work as fine-art prints and digital plates.
The catalogue runs to 53 plates. Each one begins as a hand-drawn study of a single specimen: one subject, open paper around it, the scientific name set below. I draw from the specimen rather than from a photograph, which is what fixes the proportions a reference image flattens.
Prints are produced archivally, in sizes from small prints to over 150 cm (60 inches), so the same plate holds above a reception counter or in a guest room without being redrawn.
For hospitality and workplace schemes, the studio supplies matched sets drawn from one subject family: entomology, Mediterranean fruit, alpine fungi, garden flora. Size and framing are specified per scheme.
