One of my earliest childhood memories is the distinct smell of sawdust and leather in my Father's workshop. It is the familiar aroma of my origins, the essence of the Fleming & Howland family.
Since 1780, the skills and techniques required to make an authentic British Chesterfield have been passed down through generations of traditional chair makers. This is the legacy I have inherited...a responsibility to continue the pride and passion of my ancestry.
Our work begins with the selection of the most exquisite woods and high grade skins. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted using a process that takes weeks; framed, upholstered and hand finished, preserving historic methods and designs. It is these techniques, nowadays practically extinguished, which make our furniture so unique.
