Future Green Studio is an innovative landscape design and urban ecology firm in Brooklyn, New York dedicated to the union of beautiful spaces and green solutions. At the forefront of a global movement focused on establishing place and identity through ecological design, we work on a variety of scales and project types ranging from block-sized post-industrial sites to intimate residential gardens; from the sustainable enhancement of private mixed-use developments with amenity spaces to city-wide research and visioning. Collectively, our projects form a patchwork of productive and performative landscapes that transform homes, neighborhoods and cities.
Our approach is reductive – through analysis, we scrape away and unearth the layers of an existing site to reveal its inherent value and beauty. We develop a thorough understanding of its historical, material and spatial conditions so that we can optimize the often overlooked social, ecological and economic assets that lie dormant within it. The goal of this approach is to reveal the nuances of the urban landscape in subtle, poetic ways; awakening the user to the complex ecology of our cities.
Our process is iterative and we communicate our ideas through investigative mappings, diagrams and renderings to generate dialogue between clients and colleagues; fostering a deep understanding of each project’s potential. Our design work is informed by our in-house fabrication workshop where our team of experienced craftsmen create prototypes, custom objects and unique environments. We foster a collaborative environment where specialists in design, horticulture and fabrication work together to produce affordable, sustainable designs that are at once compelling, complex and buildable.
