Howeler + Yoon Architecture

Höweler + Yoon Architecture / MY Studio is a multidisciplinary practice, operating in the space between architecture, art, and landscape. They believe in an embodied experience of architecture, seeing media as material and its effects as palpable elements of architectural speculation. While their work lies at the intersection of the conceptual and the corporeal, they are committed to both the practice-of and prospects-for architecture. Engaged in projects of all scales, they are interested in the material realities and material effects of their work. From concept to construct they are determined to realize the built idea and to test projects through the dynamic interaction between the construct and the larger public. The work of HYA/MYS was recently published in "Expanded Practice," by Princeton Architectural Press (2009). Awarded the Architecture League's Emerging Voices award and Architectural Record's Vanguard award in 2007, their work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the National Art Center in Tokyo, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Their work has been published and reviewed in Architect Magazine, Architectural Record, Domus, Interior Design Magazine, and I.D. Magazine, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Financial Times and published in the following books: Expanded Practice (Princeton Architectural Press, 2009), Young Architects Americas (DAAB 2007), Material Process: Young Architects 4 (Princeton Architectural Press 2003).
