The combined practices of Harsh Vardhan Jain architects and Co.Lab Design (headed by Saurabh Jain) engaging in contemporary design of projects spread across scales such as institutional, residential, master plan as well as furniture.
Harsh Vardhan Jain Architects, founded in 2013, is a practice that is established through combining deep material sensibilities and their relationship to space and context. A strong research and theoretical underpinning guiding the aesthetic implications of material in an environment is the fundamental basis of the practice
Harsh Vardhan Jain received his Bachelor of Architecture from Sushant School of Art and Architecture in 2008 and Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia School of Architecture in 2013. At UVA School of Architecture, his Master’s thesis, under the guidance of Prof. Peter Waldman and Prof. Iñaki Alday, was widely appreciated and received a design excellence award.
Prior to his Master’s education, Harsh Vardhan Jain worked for well over 3 years in the office of Vir. Mueller architects where he collected valuable construction experience and met the role of project architect on several projects. The work of Vir. Mueller architects has been internationally recognised.
In the currency of the practice, Harsh Vardhan Jain Architects have engaged several projects varying in scale and nature. Projects ranging from the scale of furniture and detail to institutional and residential development have been designed, often in the manner of design-build. The core concepts and values that push material sensibilities and engaging with the craftsman form the basis for approaching each project.
Co.Lab design, founded in 2014, is rooted in the belief that architecture is a truly collaborative process and that sensitive work emerges from conversation and discovery. The practice caters to projects across scales, including residential, institutional, commercial - architecture, interiors and renovations.
Saurabh Jain graduated as an architect from CEPT University in Ahmedabad in 2008. Since then he has worked as a Senior Architect at Vir. Mueller Architects in New Delhi where he garnered valuable experience conceptualizing, managing and developing projects across all scales and specialising in large scale institutional projects. He also worked at the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) on projects at the Urban scale.
