Masao Koizumi graduated from Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo in 1986. After completing his Master’s course at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Engineering in 1988, he served as Partner at Coelacanth Architects from 1986 to 2005 and was concurrently Associate Professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University in 2001.
Subsequent to his role at Coelacanth Architects, he Established Koizumi Atelier in 2005 and from 2010 to the present has been a Professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University.
Koizumi’s main works include: Open Ended House (2004), Ashihara Elementary School (2005), ZOU-NO-HANA Park & Terrace (2009), LCCM Demonstration House (2011), Konan Ward synthesis Government building (2017), Nogeyama Zoo -3 facilities at Nakayoshi Hiroba- and among his literary works are: “Planning method for LCCM Demonstration House”, “Text of Public space”, “Housing Planning and Environmental Design”, “Essays on Environmental Architecture”. His main awards include BCS (Building Contractors Society) Awards, the Architectural Institute of Japan Award and the Public Buildings Award.
