Swiss born designer Nikki Kreis is motivated by curiosity and a desire to create furniture, products and spaces that enhance people's lives because they work beautifully.
This love of functionality is infused with a twist of humour and a rich experience of different cultures. Since graduating in interior architecture from EAAL School of Architecture, Nikki has lived and worked in London, Berlin, New York and Sydney. She has designed and developed furniture and interiors for hotels, fashion showrooms and residential spaces throughout Europe, Asia and the US.
At the beginning of 2012, Nikki set up her studio Kreisdesign. Inspired by its vibrancy and energy as a cultural and creative hub, she chose to base her business in London, where she develops products and furniture, working directly with manufacturers and retailers.
Nikki has been drawing and thinking in 3D since she was a child when she would make architectural models and do sketches of her dream house. Today, she still enjoys turning her hand to welding and wood sculpture. This hands-on, tactile approach to design extends to her appreciation of materials. Working with wood, felt, fur and metal, she gives each material space to be true to itself so that her products can develop their own identity while staying close to their essence.
