Lee Broom

ABOUT LEE BROOM Lee Broom founded his company four years ago, and has since gone on to become one of the UK’s leading interior and product designers. In his career to date, Broom has designed over 40 bar and restaurant interiors across the UK and has won over 17 awards, with his work featuring in most major broadsheet and interior design publications. Having started out in theatre school - a beginning which has greatly influenced the sense of drama and narrative that his collections create - Broom’s career took a change of direction after winning a fashion design competition in association with The Clothes Show. This led him to meet and then go onto work with the legendary Vivienne Westwood, followed by studying fashion at Central St Martins. To subsidise his degree, Lee Broom and fellow student Maki Aoki provided décor advice to a number of independent bars across London which cemented an organic move into interior design. Lee and Maki subsequently established their own interior design agency, Makilee Design in 2002. Maki left London to pursue opportunities in Japan, and in 2007 Lee launched his own label, Lee Broom. His first furniture collection ‘Neo Neon‘ received critical acclaim, and since then, has launched a new collection each year, selling globally to London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and the Middle East. Broom’s meteoric rise has seen him dubbed “the pin up of British manufacturing” by The Times for his 2009 Heritage Boy collection. The importance of the manufacturing process is integral to Broom with his unique contemporary pieces produced in the United Kingdom, where Broom works closely with talented traditional manufacturers, from seed to creation.
