M& DB does not work with a predetermined style but searches per assignment for the most optimal solution. Therefore, characteristics of the site, logistical and programmatic problematics or broader economic and social conditions serve as the drivers of M& DB’s design solutions. Because of this purpose driven approach M& DB works on a broad range of projects. Ranging from single family homes designed for private clients to large scale housing developments for professional developers and from a Museumgarden in Amsterdam to the multi-functional redesign of the entrance area World Heritage Site Kinderdijk.
M& DB was founded in 2010 by Michael Daane Bolier (1982) and Dorus Meurs (1982).
Michael obtained his Masters with honourable mention from the TU Delft in 2010. During his studies Michael worked at several architecture offices, such as the Architecture office Koen van Velsen, and was an associate at Terraventure Urban Reserach. At Terraventure Michael led a research project investigating the urban development of Shanghai, CN. At M& DB Michael focusses on concept development and design.
Dorus obtained his Masters at the TU Delft in 2010 after completing studies at the Hogeschool van Tilburg. During his studies Dorus worked at several architecture offices and was able to work on all facets of the design and construction process. At M& DB Dorus focusses on the technical development and execution of the designs.
Michael and Dorus have spoken, taught, acted as visiting critic and served as jury members at several universities, symposia and competitions. Such as the TU Delft, Hotelschool The Hague, FH Köln, UVA Amsterdam, SDS Bridgeport, SLIA Colombo and the Biennale van Venetië 2014.
