MARC architects is founded by Marc van Driest in 2010. MARC architects is the result of a successful partnership id-architecten in which both architects Taco van Iersel and Marc van Driest worked as partners for many years. Nowadays MARC architects works in a team together with architects and advising engineers.
Marc van Driest
In 2002 Marc van Driest graduated at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Technology in Delft. He acquired a Master degree in both Architecture and Building and Technology. After his study he started working for Fokkema Architecten. As assistant designer he was responsible for projects like KPMG, BDO Camps Obers and Unilever headquarters. In 2003 Marc continued his career working for VVKH Architecten. As an architect he was responsible for project The Wall in Utrecht (www.thewall.nu) from the very start. In the following years he developed into the role of project manager. As second man in command he was responsible for the daily management and the design process as a whole. Marc worked on varying projects, like housing (Leeuwarden), a shopping center (Reijerwaard, Barendrecht) and a masterplan for a retail district and shopping mall in ´s Hertogenbosch. In 2006 Marc started on a part-time base id-architecten together with colleague Taco van Iersel. They were responsible for several projects from design until construction. On a regular base Marc gives lectures for students at the Technical Universities of Delft, Eindhoven and the Architectural Association in London. Marc was responsible for publications concerning the design of The Wall related to highway architecture as a topic of research or even more considered out of the technical elaborations of the project.

MARC architects works in a multidisciplinary network of specialists who are true professionals in design, visualization, cost expertise, manufacturing and building physics. Our work with these specialists intensified over the last years which resulted in a sustainable cooperation. We consider the exchange of knowledge and innovations very valuable. Our procedures of work are open and dynamical. Our approach is with passion and in the meanwhile sober. The combination of inventiveness, technique and creativity is our force. Our design solutions are often unconventional. The organization is flexible and efficient. A customer-oriented way of working combined with a strong functionality is our base.

Our projects and scopes are diverse. We maintain design activities in housing, renovation, retail, hotel, congress and offices. We are experienced in all scales and complexities of the design. We have particularly strong bounds and professionally developed working methods in the field of private commissioning. Our tasks are clearly organized for clients and they are related to the latest standards (STB 2009). We communicate with advisors and councilors in all phases of design and construction. We guide our clients intensively throughout the whole process. Our main field of work covers The Netherlands.
