For the last decade, Christopher has passionately dedicated himself to the study, teaching and practice of Architecture, design and development. Christopher earned a Bachelor of Architecture (5 Year professional degree) from the University of Southern California in 2008 where he received numerous honors, scholarships, grants and awards. His studio work was featured in many design shows and in several University Publications. While at the University of Southern California, along with a group of 4 other architecture students, Christopher was awarded a grant to research housing strategies in the highland communities of Chiapas, Mexico. Using the experience, information and graphics created from this venture he would go on to lead the formation of a 500 level course on global housing strategies that utilize modern design solutions.Following that rewarding experience, Christopher was one of two students from his year to be selected to spend four months traveling Asia (Japan, China, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand & Singapore) studying and experiencing the region’s architecture first hand. Christopher also participated in and later led two volunteer community building trips to Costa Rica, where groups of students spent their spring breaks eagerly building and/or repairing schools and community centers in rural villages. While involved in the community development programs in Central America, Megowan was responsible for organizing Los Angeles based fundraising efforts which yielded tens of thousands of dollars of financial aid for the communities he visited in Costa Rica, Chiapas and associated NGO’s.
Christopher has worked for award winning Architectural practices in Los Angeles, London, and Melbourne, Australia. Acting as owner, designer, and developer, he completed his first built work prior to graduating University. Since then, he has been involved in projects ranging from bar & cafe fitouts to single family homes & 50 unit mixed use developments.
Although his career is just unfolding, Megowan’s work constantly seeks to maximize opportunities in the typical constraints of a tight budget, local construction methods/materials, and complex permitting processes in order to consistently deliver his clients the best potential design outcome for each individual scenario. A more practical architect, as opposed to a theoretical one, Christopher cherishes the satisfaction that comes from seeing realistic yet well thought out ideas come to life in the built form.
