bruce norelius has practiced architecture for almost twenty years, with an enduring focus and interest in custom residential design. This commitment has cultivated a rigorous exploration and maturing understanding of the issues particular to custom residences. Integral to his practice is a design process which emphasizes intensive collaboration with his clients, while meticulously addressing their high expectations for the aesthetic and technical performance aspects of their houses.
Bruce received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 1981 from Washington University in Saint Louis and his Master of Architecture in 1986 from the University of Pennsylvania. His professional internship included work with firms in Maine, Boston, and Seattle. He has been involved in all areas of the profession including design, administration, teaching and design critique. He has been a partner in the twelve-person Maine firm Elliott Elliott Norelius Architecture since 2001, and involved in the design and execution of several of the firm’s published and award-winning projects. In 2008, he established his own firm with the intent to focus more intensely on a select, small number of projects.
