Palma is an architecture firm with offices in Mexico City and Sayulita, present in Mexico and Europe through its digital multilocalization approach. Through an open design process that embraces experimentation and exploration, it operates seamlessly across multiple scales and typologies: from pavilions to community centers, from residential architecture to ephemeral installations.
Collaborative work with other architectural practices has become a fundamental part of Palma’s recent projects. Valuing teamwork and being open to different voices, ways of working, and perspectives, these experiences with various offices have led to a geographic expansion and an increase in the diversity of projects over the past few years.
Palma was recently awarded in Vienna the 2024 Brick Award in the Out of the Box category. The firm has received several other prestigious awards, including the COAM Emerging Prize, granted by the Official College of Architects of Madrid to architects under 35, and the League Prize from The Architectural League of New York, which has celebrated exemplary and provocative work by young practitioners in North America since 1981. Considered by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the 20 most relevant emerging practices in the world, Palma was also named one of the “Best New Practices” by ArchDaily, one of the leading architecture platforms globally. Additionally, they were selected by the University of Virginia School of Architecture as the Michael Owen Jones Memorial Lecturer.
Palma’s work has been widely disseminated in national and international media. They have been invited to conduct workshops and lectures in various locations across Mexico, at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, and the Technical School of Architecture in Madrid.
The firm is led by Ilse Cárdenas, Regina de Hoyos, and Diego Escamilla, graduates of the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM.
