PLY+ is a collaborative architecture practice dedicated to design excellence. PLY+ has developed an approach that combines rigorous research and creative invention. This approach has yielded success across a wide range of project types and programmatic uses. Innovation in implementation also lies at the core of our design philosophy and is achieved by close attention to material fabrication, assembly and detailing. In combination, these priorities yield projects that deliver a rich experience of spaces and an identity unique to each building.
Shaping materials and space with digital fabrication tools established the origins of the practice in 1999 and continues to inform our processes of collaboration, design research and implementation. Our work has been recognized for its experiential complexity, geometric experimentation and economic discipline producing projects that exceed expectations in performance and quality of experience. PLY+ has built over 60 projects of varying scale and complexity. These projects have been recognized by the profession and academy. The work has earned a p/a Awards citation, and an R+D Awardfrom Architect Magazine, and American Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, seven State of Michigan American Institute of Architect (AIA) awards, a Wood Design Award, an ID (International Design) Award, a Merit Prize from the Shinkenchiku-sha Central Glass Competition, an ACSA Faculty Design Award, and an Urban Design First Prize at the XV Pan-American Biennale. Selected as one of six participants in the Architecture League of New York’s Young Architects Forum (2006) and as one of “101 of the World’s Most Exciting New Architects” by Wallpaper* Magazine (2007). The work has been published in numerous national and international publications.
