For the first time in the sector, Sanlorenzo introduced the world of design and architecture, entrusting the interior design of its yachts to authoritative names such as DordoniArchitetti, Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola and Studio Christian Liaigre. This intuition has brought new languages and styles on board, profoundly changing the interpretation of space.
A choice that has proven to be a winning one in 2018, Sanlorenzo's 60th anniversary year, with the beginning of the collaboration with Piero Lissoni as the company's Art Director.
Hence the design project created by studio Lissoni for the SX88, the first model in a revolutionary range of crossover motoryachts, with which the brand creates a new market segment, the unprecedented success of which rewards the audacity of the project.
The fervent fusion of the worlds of interior design and architecture has gradually led the site to explore the world of art more widely. It holds a number of partnerships with prestigious artistic and cultural institutions. Since 2018, with an exclusive agreement for the yachting sector, Sanlorenzo is Global Host Partner of Art Basel, the most important modern and contemporary art fair on the international scene, for the annual appointments in Hong Kong, Basel, Paris and Miami Beach where it is present in the Collectors Lounge with its own installations.
From 2020 to 2022, Sanlorenzo was Institutional Patron of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the most important museum in Italy for 20th century European and American art. A collaboration that enshrined the fundamental role played by the business world in supporting the development of culture and art.
In 2022, motivated by the desire to support, promote and spread the Italian art system, Sanlorenzo became the main sponsor of the Italian Pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia.
It was in 2021, at the request of the Perotti family, that the Sanlorenzo Foundation was established, with the purpose of supporting the minor Italian islands and the communities living there by financing projects and initiatives that contribute to their socio-cultural and economic development and environmental protection. The aim is to keep the identity of these places intact and authentic, guaranteeing them a more sustainable future.
If design, innovation and art were the drivers of the 2010-2020 decade in Sanlorenzo's vision, for the decade up to 2030 the focus will be on sustainability and technology, attention to the supply chain and services dedicated to its clientele. The maximum commitment will be directed towards sustainability. Already a co-founding member of the Venice World Capital Sustainability Foundation, the company has launched a plan to progressively reduce its environmental impact, charting a course towards carbon neutrality through strategic agreements with the world's largest players in power generation and propulsion.
Central among these is the exclusive partnership with Siemens Energy to produce the first 50-metre yacht with on-board hotellerie powered by Methanol Fuel Cells and the first Sanlorenzo superyacht with diesel electric propulsion by 2024. Another very important exclusive agreement was signed in August 2022 with Rolls-Royce Solutions GmbH - Global Marine (MTU) for the installation of methanol-powered internal combustion engines, which can be combined with fuel cells supplied by Siemens Energy.
In addition to the commitment to the product, the approach to sustainability encompasses all significant areas for the Group, such as the environmental impact of the facilities and production processes, the valorisation of human resources and the control of the supply chain.
The company declares, measures and reports the results of its initiatives in its Non-Financial Declaration, published annually. This has earned it the "Sustainability Excellence Award 2022''.
