We approach our work with the curiosity of generalist architects, but for our clients, we are specialists in creating exceptional design solutions for the difficult challenges they face. We work nationwide creating striking, sustainable new construction and restoring or adapting historic buildings for preservation or new uses. Since as problem solvers we often prefer the challenge of a difficult puzzle to an easy one, our favorite projects are frequently constrained by their historic or urban contexts, programmatic demands, tight budgets or technical challenges. Our clients are academic institutions, libraries, museums, public agencies and private individuals, with designs for new construction, renovations and planning studies. Many projects combine new architecture and historically significant older buildings, with six of them recognized in our seven AIA National Honor Awards and more than forty AIA regional, chapter and specialty awards.
