Studio DeSimoneWayland is an Amsterdam based design and ceramics studio. Since 2010 we have been creating unique works using ceramics, titled Altered Perspectives. These art installations are imbued with art history, and historical references yet are utterly contemporary. Our continued focus on ceramics has led us to experiment in particular with stoneware and porcelain coloured with pigments, mostly through slip casting. We have been working in this method since 2014. Our aesthetic embraces colour, pattern, and design, and our love of them has inspired us to develop two different catalogs of wallpapers over the last ten years. The wallpapers reflect our love of surface design. The extensive research in historical drawings and etchings we did to create our wallpapers has in turn developed into a new series of art installations: groupings of white glazed ceramics with our own transfers inspired by European and Asian imagery
