Studio Eccentric is a Seoul-based architectural and interior design studio founded in 2018 by Seuk Hoon Kim. With a focus on hospitality, the studio works across cultural, residential, and commercial environments, exploring how spatial design can create meaningful relationships between people and place.
Our practice begins with what is given; the character of an existing space, the cultural contexts of its surroundings, and also the ways people live, gather together, and interact each other. Through research and close observation, we translate these conditions into spatial strategies that guide planning and design.
We describe our approach as designing with a 'Korean Attitude', a way of thinking grounded in adaptability, restraint, and the thoughtful coexistence of differences. It shapes how we work with inherited conditions, bring contrasting elements into balance, and introduce change while retaining a sense of continuity.
Hospitality is central to how we understand space. Across different programs and scales, we consider how people are welcomed, how they find moments of privacy as well as intimacy, and how an environment can respond to their changing needs. This perspective connects the practical organization of a space with its atmosphere and everyday experience.
For Studio Eccentric, 'eccentric' is to be considered for departing from what to be expected. We seek unexpected possibilities within familiar conditions, creating places with a distinct character and a lasting connection to the people.
