Architecture uses a complex language, but when it is well-composed, the message is immediate and cannot be separated from a series of experences, already codified and instantly recognizable to anyone who shares the same cultural context. As Umberto Eco highlights "the form denotes the function only on the basis of a system of acquired expectations and habits and therefore on the basis of a code ". Function is an intangible value of space that affects those who live as much as its specific characteristics (color, material, shape). That is why, for instance, for a visitor approaching a museum is not the same than approaching an art gallery, as far as both housing artworks. This is because architecture, with its symbolic value is the first and most immediate contact that occurs when we interact with a space. The complexity lies in the ability of the designer to instill content in architecture, using a coherent and understandable language for those who must use it.
