Maryam Pousti was born in 1983 in Tehran. She graduated from the Architectural Association (AA) while her final year project was nominated for honors. Following the completion of RIBA part I , she commenced her career at Zaha Hadid Architects in London. Having acquired hands-on-the-job experience, she was inspired to return to AA to further her education in 2007. Upon receiving RIBA part II from the Royal Institute of British Architects and AA Diploma, she returned to the architectural scenery and cooperated with BFLS and Foster & Partners of London from 2009 to 2011.
In 2013, she established Studio Pousti in Tehran, Iran. The studio focuses on Architecture, interior, furniture design and material research. By combining traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, the work developed in the studio is inspired by studying the behavior of materials through experimenting with their possibilities, limitations and compositions. At the moment the studio is engaged in both small scale experimental work as well as medium scale architecture and interior projects. Each project offers its own possibilities regarding spatial, material and technological issues whilst corresponding to its own unique brief.
