Nerea Apraiz is the CEO and founder of Tabula Studio, an architecture and interior design firm based in Bilbao. She holds a dual degree in Architecture and Fine Arts, earned in 2007. She began her career in the marketing world before transitioning in 2015 to lead a family business focused on real estate and full-scale residential renovations in Bilbao, where she oversaw more than 250 projects.
Driven by a desire to explore new creative directions, she eventually struck out on her own to found Tabula Studio — a space she describes as a laboratory of ideas, built on continuous dialogue with clients and collaborators. The studio specialises in architecture, interior design, furniture design, and comprehensive renovations, with a strong commitment to sustainability, local craftsmanship, and the use of innovative materials and finishes.
At the heart of her practice is the belief that each project should tell its own story — shaped by colour, materials, context, and function — from the earliest concept through to completion. Beyond client work, Nerea is also invested in raising the cultural and social profile of interior architecture through research and study, channelled through the studio's internal think tank, Tabulab.
