Tandem Design Studio

TANDEM is an award winning architectural practice, established in 2004 by Tim Hill and James Murray as a collaborative design studio in which to explore new architectural possibilities. James and Tim met while working as designers on the Federation Square Project in 1997. They established TANDEM in 2004, going on to work on residential, commercial, institutional and interior projects for a range of public and private clients in Australia and overseas. TANDEM’s work has been widely published in peer review and mainstream publications for residential, community and interior design projects. TANDEM maintains links with the University of Melbourne and RMIT. In 2010, James and Tim completed their Masters by Practice at the invitation of Professor Leon van Schaik, while in 2013 they taught Masters Candidates at the University of Melbourne. TANDEM creates a co-operative approach to design work, collaborating with our clients, other design professionals and our partner offices in China, Europe and Australia.
