The Arkitex Studio was founded in 1995 when Dr. Elton Abbott approached Charlie Burris about teaming up to alter the course of Charlie's solo practice in order to have a bigger impact on local architecture. Mike Record and Eva Read-Warden became employees of the firm in 1997 and partners in 2010. The office moved to historic Downtown Bryan in 2007 when the Tremont Building was purchased and renovated, and it's been a great place to work and be part of a community. The core value of the firm is teaming to bring the best ideas and capabilities to bear on each project, to make every project the best it can be within the evident limitations. We love what we do and so "it's not just what we do but who we are!"
