Tina Rugelj studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of Ljubljana, followed by a year of design studies at the Eina School of Art and Design in Barcelona. She graduated in 2003 at the Faculty of Architecture, Graz University of Technology. She has completed an architectural internship in Spain and has been working in various architectural studios in Slovenia. All this time, she has been involved in architecture, interior design, graphic design, and the design of individual pieces of furniture.
Last year she debuted at Milan's Furniture Fair, in her solo exhibition at Salone Satellite, with her collection My Concrete Garden. Initially a research project that began as part of her post-graduate studies at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts on the use of concrete in the furniture industry the project was finally materialized and presented to the public. The project was also among selected works of the international Biennial of Design BIO23 in Ljubljana, and was awarded Best Furniture of the Year by the Design Society of Slovenia in 2013.
