Joeri Ivar van Ommeren MSc Arch. (Haarlem-NL, 1987) graduated with honors in architecture at Delft University of Technology. After his bachelors in architecture he worked at Santiago Calatrava in Zurich(CH). He worked on The Chicago Spire (660m high rise), Liege railway station and the New York City transportation hub at Ground Zero.
During his masters het founded creative collective Smartchitecture. Today this team of designers strategists, engineers and architects works on a unique mix of assignments. As initiator Joeri searches for the interdisciplinary overlap between the specialists.
After earning his MSc Arch. degree Joeri worked at aTA/architectuurcentrale Thijs Asselbergs. In this period he initiated creative incubator 'De Zuster' in Delft and the first 360degree inflatable cinema ‘Sphaerae’ with Smartchitecture.
In 2012-2013 Joeri participated in the BKB-Academie, where he learned all about campaigning, (Dutch) politics and media.
Today eighty percent of Joeri's assignment are with vanOmmeren-architects. Smartchitecture is still an inspiring think tank and idea generator for wicked problems.
