Wout Wessemius has more than 30 years of experience as a self producing designer and participant in (interior) design projects. Initially he mainly designs interior objects in acrylic glass. Pretty soon raw and natural materials are added, such as copper, lead, rubber, concrete, steel and wood. Often these are residual materials he picks up from the junkyard. Old lead water pipes, rubber inner tubes, or a rusty piece of iron gain a second life in an object.
Forms of nature inspire him and this fascination gives many of his designs a fluid, playful and sometimes whimsical appearance. He likes to experiment with the possibilities and impossibilities of the materials he works with. As such, his designs often come into existence in a playful manner.
