Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Ruth Berktold and her team operate internationally in the field of design and architecture. YES was established in 2002 and is headquartered in Munich, Germany with a satellite office in New York. The work of YES includes architecture, urban planning, interior design, furniture, products, virtual spaces and web design. YES strives to work with new design tools and strategies including innovative digital and production methods.

ABOUT RUTH BERKTOLD
Prof. Ruth Berktold has been teaching at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich since September 2002. Her field of research is Architectural Design and the Conceptual Approach to Computer integrated Design. She teaches Bachelor and Master level. She also is the principal of the Munich-New York based office YES ARCHITECTURE.
She lived in New York from Mai 1994 to Mai 2002. Before starting YES ARCHITECTURE., she worked for Behnisch and Partner, Stuttgart, Prof. Eisele und Fritz, Darmstadt, Bernard Tschumi, Jim Polshek and Asymptote, New York, and dealt with projects of different scales and designed international competitions for clients such as Daimler Chrysler and BMW. During this time she was a professor for architectural design at RPI graduate school (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY) and was teaching with Lise Anne Couture at Parsons School of Design, NY.
She has been an invited member of many juries at NTNU Trondheim, Norway,
Columbia University, Yale Architecture School and other European universities. Since 2002 she has been a jury member for many architectural competitions in Germany and Austria.
In December 2004 Ruth Berktold and her former project partner were awarded the commission for the new UN-Campus in Bonn, a 200 mio. Euro structure named
“WCCB – World Conference Center Bonn”.
In 2015 the project “Meile Moosach”, a hotel and shopping center in Munich was completed.
Ruth Berktold is currently working on a new hotel, an apartment building,
and multiple housing projects, retail structures and restaurants.
She is a member of the Chamber of Bavarian Architects, RIBA – Royal Institute of British Architects, BDA – Bund Deutscher Architekten and AIA – American Institute of Architects.
