CLAUDINE HERMANN SCHOOL

School complex with 10 classes (preschool and elementary), including an after-school program and a restaurant with a dining hall. The school complex appears in the landscape with a controlled formal and material duality:  @Salem Mostefaoui @Salem Mostefaoui The classrooms appear in the form of monolithic pavilions that rhythmically shape the landscape with a sequential façade, both dynamic and systematic, offering a different appearance from every viewpoint, sometimes massive, sometimes transparent. The facades, made of in-situ tinted concrete that gives off a warm and welcoming appearance, are then sandblasted after pouring to expose aggregates, in certain places, thus controlling the final quality. The pavilion cla... Mehr

CBS De Regenboog

The single-story building may appear as a simple shoebox, but looks can be deceiving. Once inside, a new world unfolds. It's an environment where children experience adventures and discover learning. The design of the building is child-centered, just like the vision of CBS De Regenboog. How do you create such a rich learning environment where students' talents can blossom to the fullest? We looked through the eyes of a child and designed from the perspective of a teacher.A child's world of experienceThe interior of CBS De Regenboog perfectly aligns with a child's world of experience: concave and convex inner walls take center stage. This provides spatial continuity. Such a fluid motion makes the space captivating. It creates the necessary s... Mehr

IKC Vossepark

The recently amalgamated Meer en Dorp school and BLOS childcare center now have the privilege of inhabiting a brand-new, integrated child center in Hillegom – the IKC Vossepark. Nestled in a picturesque setting, this building is cocooned by lush greenery, nestled beside a park, and in close proximity to a petting zoo. This location is nothing short of ideal, given the primary objective of creating a child center that optimally nurtures child development. It's a setting that offers an exemplary starting point for this mission, and the architectural design exploits this advantage to the fullest. Rufus de Vries A building full of possibilitiesThis design is underpinned by a core belief that everything should contribute to a child's... Mehr

Public Nursery in Glyfada

The design and construction of public buildings in Greece is problematic, as the architect is not in charge of the construction. One of the biggest challenges of this project was to reintroduce the role of the architect as the essential contributor. Mariana Bisti Mariana Bisti Additionally, we intended to give prominence to the construction method of prefabrication. Prefabrication, one of the conditions of the competition also defined the final form of the building as the basic module would have to be transported on a truck. Mariana Bisti Mariana Bisti The concept of the project was to design a building that would relate to the scale of its users while also introducing a new typology, that of the urban village. The mai... Mehr

Elementary School - Givat-Shmuel 'Kanfey-Ruach'

The school was designed as part of the Ministry of Education's innovation program and is the result of many years of research and development by our Ministry with cooperation from the Development Director of the Ministry of Education and the Givat-Shmuel Municipality. Caption The goal of the school is to offer a physical environment that is suitable for a learning-oriented pedagogy, instead of a teaching-oriented pedagogy. Said pedagogy recognizes and respects the diversity of each child and allows them to maintain a connection to their interests, their curiosity, their body, and the way (the language) in which it is easiest and best for them to learn. It is belived that all these benefits can be achieved by creating a space of choice... Mehr

The Jet House

Based on the ideas of its client, Hello Wood, a Budapest-based architecture firm, well known for the unique Rocks resort, its lovable buildings, and cabins - including the minimalist Kabinka, the ‘extraterrestrial’ Pebble pod, or the elevated Wauhaus - has now designed and built its most charming and eccentric small house ever. Zsuzsa Darab Hello Wood’s Jet House is a childhood fantasy come true. The cottage in the shape of a pastel blue airplane is tucked away in a ring of trees among the hills of Zala County, Hungary. It seems as if it had flown out of a cartoon and landed on the meadow with its friendly arcs and curves and round windows, and upon entering, a children's kingdom is revealed. Zsuzsa Darab The c... Grow STEM Center

Schools in Bulgaria keep the imprint of the past socialist period. A long corridor with rooms attached to it, identical desks and chairs facing the podium, where the teacher, the source of knowledge, stands. An educational model, fit for the 21st century, is hard to thrive in this environment. Because of that, 90. SU “José de san Martín” school in Sofia approached Lusio architects to redesign part of their existing building into a new STEM space called "Grow". The process was long and involved extensive research - on-site observation of school life, interviews and focus groups with the teachers and students. In a series of workshops, the architects discovered several challenges for the space - such as the need for...
