Rénovation of a swiss chalet in Villars

Located in the Vaud Pre-Alps, Villars-sur-Ollon is a large, fast-growing mountain village. Chalet Françoise Romaine and its three neighbors were built in 1957 by a local carpenter. As the chalet was in poor condition and very poorly insulated, it was necessary to rethink the entire thermal envelope. Caption Caption Caption Caption Caption Blown- in interior insulation, a new boiler and replacement windows enabled the chalet to meet current energy renovation stand- ards. By opening up the kitchen to the dining room, the plan offers more light throughout the first floor layout. Between the Lines

Les Jeurs House, named after the hamlet overlooking the road to the Col de la Forclaz, is a project that is rooted in local memory through its interpretation of the form and scale of neighbouring traditional buildings. Joël Tettamanti Like the typical Valais granaries, it consists of a stone base upon which a dark timber volume is raised above ground level. Since the construction of a single, large volume would have disrupted the harmony of scale of the location, the building is divided into two parts. These are connected by the entrance on the mountain side and face the valley at an angle of 45 degrees. Joël Tettamanti From above, only a single M-shaped silhouette can be seen, recalling the outline of the mountains. F... Mehr

013_NOI Noisettes Chalet, Gryon

Situated on the outskirts of Gryon, facing the Alps, the modest, yet refined architecture of this small, 100-year-old chalet gives it a fascinating and timeless beauty. The addition of extra volumes therefore requires extreme sensitivity to avoid undermining the building’s charm. Joël Tettamanti A small conservatory was moved up the slope and now acts as a garden shed. It has been replaced by an initial appended volume resembling an abstract miniature of the existing chalet. On the north side, a turret structure containing the bathrooms echoes the extension to the neighbouring chalet. These two new volumes, which appear to float on their bases, mutually strengthen their relationship with the existing building, from which th... Mehr

Chalet AN

The Chalet is part of an intervention that saw the renovation and expansion of an old structure surrounded by greenery in an important ski resort in the Valtellina Alps. The client's need was to have a space that he could share with his guests, for this reason I decided to create this open space shielded only by a central block that contains the wood-burning fireplace and divides the living area from the kitchen and dining room. Marcello Mariana Marcello Mariana The fully custom-designed kitchen consists of a tall unit containing the washing area and all the various appliances, combined with an island with the cooking area and a snack table designed for breakfast or an informal aperitif. Luxury modular house "DUB"

We had a difficult task - to assemble a large luxury single-family house from the modules produced at the factory. But first, it is important to say what the word "Modular" means to us. This is a house consisting of volumetric modules, in which all the interior decoration, electrics, plumbing, and possibly even furniture are made at the factory. Such a house is assembled in the production, delivered by trucks and installed with a crane in one day on the lot. Another 1-2 weeks are required for the final exterior finish. We have already done projects from 16 to 110 square meters, but this is the first time we have designed such a large serial modular house. Sergey Nastavnik In the project, we combined the environmental friendliness of a... Mehr

Chalet Chamonix

Surrounded by the incredible mountains of the French Alps, in the town of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, the Alpen Chalet became the first large foreign project of our studio. The interior design of the chalet took us more than six months to develop. This allowed to create a traditional, but at the same time modern, unique and timeless style. Warm colors, elegant wooden surfaces, natural materials and expressive interior elements – all to create an atmosphere of comfort and relax after a long... Mehr

Specification case study: Poisson Blanc by naturehumaine

Naturehumaine designed a minimalistic and refined chalet located in rugged terrain north of Montréal, Canada. The architects shaped the structure in a compact volume to reduce the footprint on the site. The squared floor plan is topped by a gabled roof structure. The modest budget led to a reduction of circulation areas, compact spaces, grouping of services and simple and affordable materials. The result is a minimalistic monochrome volume that fits well within its natural landscape.  Raphaël Thibodeau Wooden facade cladding - Modern Siding in Ultra White-1 by MaibecThe white wooden siding with vertical orientation is factory coated and provides increased protection against effects of the sun and the harsh Canadian e... Chalet Zaarour

The interior features modern Scandinavian-style furniture and a lighter coloured timber, to make the space feel welcoming and bright. Oak timber clads the walls and ceiling to create the sensation of a "cocoon" with views of the mountain beyond, with inherent characteristics that form textures and colours while evoking sensations of warmth, cold balancing feelings of soft and hard to the touch. Concealed sliding panels, discrete hand pulls and hidden cupboards conceal storage throughout the Chalet.   Mehr
