The colonial building was completely restored on the outside, refurbished in the inside to become more adequate to current bookselling operations. The first bay of the building section is preserved and reinforced with a series of concrete walls, a new covered courtyard was made, which holds a new elevator to access the upper levels and terrace. Most important, the roof terrace was transformed into a restaurant overlooking Templo Mayor and the rest of the historic center. The 1960s building was re-cladded in a red aluminum, which gives visual uniformity to the building and merges with the color of tezontle, used in the surrounding historic buildings’ façade. The 4th floor of this building is part of the new restaurant, called El Mayor and the 5th floor houses the offices of the CEO of Porrua.
