The ensemble of residential buildings is likely to become an architectural landmark in Russia’s Novosibirsk, the heart of Siberia. The architectural concept is inspired by urban planning in Berlin, Barcelona, Vienna, Stockholm and Copenhagen and reflects key principles of European housing design: a quiet mid-level residential quarter with secluded garden and street-retail on the front side.
Designed by SVESMI in collaboration with Russian real estate developer Brusnika, the building is divided in four sections connected with rooftop glass terraces that remind spacious bridges. Due to this engineering solution there is plenty of sunlight and fresh air inside along with sufficient privacy in the quarter’s secluded spaces. Finally, the terraces work on the variety of apartment layouts. Designed as public spaces for residents, the rooftop terraces and welcome various activities of the residents: one may place an inflatable pool for kids or hang on swings or organise a deck chair and sunbath during the summertime. However, the real privilege for residents is the panoramic view on the Siberian Ob River from the bridge-terraces, a perfect place for a romantic dinner or a chillout.
— With the rooftop terraces the building has got its unique character and has become more recognizable for local people, — says Anastasia Smirnova, a cofounder of SVESMI. — Now the quarter residents may easily say “a building with bridges” when asked about their address.

More distinctive features
In the sheds balconies sheds overlooking the garden, the designers installed LED panels. They serve to illuminate the facade. Residents will be able to turn them on and off when neeeded.
The garden is secluded and is rich with adult trees from European plant nurseries.
The ground level spaces are zoned with glass blocks. This material transmits sunlight, but at the same time sheds what is behind it. Reception halls are decorated with custom-made furniture and art objects that are elegantly covered with frosted glass and feature silhouettes of green leaves.
