Weekend House Wachtebeke

The plot runs down to the river and is overgrown with yellow forsythia , typical of the sandy soil of the area.

The wooden construction rests like a modern stilt house on a slight foundation of precast concrete T - elements. The plan is conceived as a U-shape which opens to the landscape. At each end there is a living room , both with private covered outdoor space. An elongated cabinet wall separates the sleeping quarters of the inner courtyard.

The façade is conceived as aluminum frame, filled with wooden panels or glass that wraps the entire building. The combination of timber , insulated with paper flakes and triple glazing results in a low energy house . A tree was planted to filter the sunlight. Expanded metal shutters provide privacy from neighbors and the street.
