Redefining Staff Spaces in HospitalityBadrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz is almost 130 years old, since it opened it has been associated with Alpine luxury and world-class service. Behind this celebrated guest experience lies a team of +600 employees whose dedication ensures the seamless operation of the hotel. We embarked on the challenge to redefine the staff facilities. Designed in collaboration with client and designers Jonathan Goss and Cathy Ellegard, this 230 sqm footprint utilises skillfully crafted and organised spaces to deliver a family home in a modest space without compromising on design. Adaptive spaces are able to be opened up or closed down to suit the family’s needs, allowing the couple and their two children to live and work alongside each other. The new Voisthaler Hut is situated in the high valley of the Upper Dullwitz as a highly visible landmark. As a point of orientation between Hochschwab, Wetterkogel, Karlhochkogel and Fölzsattel, it replaces the existing hut and appears as a simple, clear volume in the high alpine terrain. The setting in the largely natural landscape is an interplay of site-specific characteristics (topography, weather sides, view), function and form - a combination of architecture and site. Una casa Walser al pie del Monte Rosa cuya historia se remonta al siglo XVII. Situada a las afueras del pueblo de Macugnanga, cerca de la antigua iglesia, la casa fue en su día residencia episcopal cerca del Walser Dorf de Staffa. Con el paso de los años, la casa pasó a manos de sus actuales propietarios, que han vivido en ella y la han cuidado durante más de cuatro generaciones. Biwak 12 is the conversion of a typical 1980s restaurant located in the mountain village of Moso, in the heart of the Sesto Dolomites, in South Tyrol. In a small village everything revolves around the theme of the mountains: the idea is to create a meeting place where young and experienced mountaineers, local population and tourists can stay together in a relaxed colorful atmosphere. The building site, located on a slope in Salzburg City, is accessed via a small road. The hillside location offers the possibility of designing a structure that allows the hillside to be experienced in its various altitudes, creates a connection to the outside space and enables distant views. Julian Höck Except for the covered forecourt on the ground floor, the structure is kept compact. The forecourt is dominated by the top floor and creates a valuable horizontal surface on the mountain.
