T-BAR - Indoor Green walls

Altro

Bio-inspired private house

HOUSE WITH A VERTICAL GARDEN The bio-inspired private house, on Travessa do Patrocinio in Lisbon, can be found in the historic yet upmarket neighbourhood of Lapa. The corner on which the house stands represents a kind of urban dead end, as it leads nowhere else. The tiny square on which the plot lies was crying out for a single, attractive building. As no garden or green space was possible in such a narrow urban space, the architects decided to transfer the desired greenery to the façade of the building. Covered with vegetation As the house, with a total floor space of 248 m², is intended for the top end of the market, it needed an innovative and eye-catching look. The green façade absorbs CO2, improves air quality, and works as a... Altro

House in The Outskirts Of Brussels

This house for an artist includes the street level of an existing small house. It now houses the entry hall, a family room and a kitchen; the living-room and the stairway are in the extension to the building. The second floor includes the master bedroom with its bathroom, as well as five children’s rooms and sanitary installations. They are equipped with a mezzanine protected by textile netting that will lead to the glassed-wall facade. The house presents curved and vegetalised facades that are very private and closed to the neighbours to the north, the east and the south. In contrast, the west facade is entirely glass-walled as if it were one huge partitioned window. It is planned that Immense translucid white polyester curtains in widt... Altro

HOUSE IN TRAVESSA DO PATROCÍNIO

From a small lot with it’s unique implantation, this project has raised early on a couple of challenges… and along with them, ideas emerged. The box housing deviates from the gable to create a vertical yard (glass box), with a straight ladder connecting all floors, an allusion to the famous stairs of Alfama, running between the all 4 floors walls and linking the various dimensions. This courtyard is the heart of the house, bringing light to the interior, enhancing the main entrance and creating a real exterior/interior relationship. In terms of material, we chose to polish the rectangular form and give the block the face of a tree, making it one more element of the square, which resulted together with the existing tree and water fountai... Urban apartment building with a green vertical garden

The design for this residential building in Kreuzberg, Berlin, was generated from careful attention to the urban and social context. Located on a narrow corner site and sandwiched between two existing residential blocks, this new building has become a part of the much-loved fabric of the current neighbourhood while demonstrating the clients’ commitment towards a greener urban future. The site, remnant of a WWII bomb, is located at a busy crossroads in an area of Kreuzberg that buzzes with a mixture of residential flats, small businesses and a lively street life. This damaged corner was for many years used as a private parking lot, and became an unsightly urban scar that has only now, with this elegant building, undergone long-overdue repair... Altro

OASIA HOTEL DOWNTOWN

A verdant tower of green in the heart of Singapore’s dense Central Business District (CBD), Oasia Hotel Downtown is a prototype of land use intensification for the urban tropics. Unlike the sleek and sealed skyscrapers that evolved out of the temperate west, this tropical “living tower” offers an alternative image to the sleek technology of the genre. In response to the brief for distinct Offices, Hotel & Club rooms, WOHA created a series of different strata, each with its own sky garden. These additional “ground” levels allow generous public areas for recreation and social interaction throughout the high-rise, despite the inner city high density location. Closely overlooked by surrounding towers, the tower carves out its own internal... Altro

Casa CorMAnca

2012-2013. On a 12 meters by 13 meters (39ft by 42ft) plot of land, a monolithic volume is transformed in order to attain luminous indoor spaces. Slade stone at the exterior facades is contrasted with the soft beech like wood finish, achieving great definition and space discovery. Built in a small plot of land 176 m2, (1894 SqFt), the construction rises looking south to the vertical vegetation garden wall. It is a 3 stories high assembly where the main terrace is to be found at the second level, follow by a small lecture studio. This area is intent to transform radically the notion of “open patio garden” since there is not really space to ensure a ground courtyard, the main terrace plays a social definitive roll. Recyclable content mat... Altro

Empordà House

This project combines our fascination of 50’s and 60’s furniture by Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand with the typical rural architecture of the Empordà (in Catalonia). Creating a country house, a rural palace of the early twentieth century, the project works asa home-gallery with open spaces that allow exhibit works of art and classical furniture from the private collection of the owner to be showcased. Using materials and aesthetics that contrast and harmoniously coexistwith traditional architecture, we have created several openings by way of windows, designed to establish greater dialogue between the outside and in – this is the key to understanding this project. A wavy canopy shelters the outdoor porch of thehouse, providing shade... Altro

A cafeteria within a green wall

of cafeterias and bandstands. Number 25 was one of the most interesting places: Santa Isabel Square. This spot in the city has extraordinary urban conditions due to relevance of the buildings allocated in its surroundings: Basilica of Santa María (s. XVIII), a tower which once was part of the Arabian city wall, Palace of Altamira (s. XV) and the Municipal Park of Elche (World Heritage). The organization of the competition demanded for this space a cafeteria of 20m2 with a terrace over the existing pavement and a green wall dressing and old-empty dividing wall. Our main goal was, from the very beginning to regenerate this residual area located in such an emblematic spot of the city. In order to so we decided todesign an invisible architect... Altro

MEDIANERA VERDE

The Green Side-Wall consists of a free-standing structure containing plants that form a protective mass of vegetation against a facade in Barcelona, thus creating a vertical garden. The demolition of an old building left a former party wall visible from the street, creating a negative visual impact on the cityscape because of its conspicuousness. A unique, integrative intervention was proposed that would use living material as one of its themes. It is promoted by the Barcelona City Council at the confluence of Carrrer Berlin with Carrer Marquès de Sentmenat, and it heralds the birth of novel type of construction in the field of “vegitecture”. It consists of a free-standing metal structure on an independent foundation, built in parallel w... Altro

Stacking Green

Whoever wanders around Saigon, a chaotic city with the highest density of population in the world, can easily find flower-pots crampped and displayed here and there all around the streets. This interesting custom has formed the amused character of Saigon over a long period of time and Saigonese love their life with a large variety of tropical plants and flowers in their balconies, courtyards and streets. The house, designed for a thirty-years-old couple and their mother, is a typical tube house constructed on the plot 4m wide and 20m deep. The front and back façades are entirely composed of layers of concrete planters cantilevered from two side walls. The distance between the planters and the height of the planters are adjusted according... Altro
