Urban development The excellent location on the green belt of Vienna permits the development of a specific social and architectural structure, the “urban village” of the future. This involves creating a framework that combines living together in the residential development and spaces for personal withdrawal. Participation of the residents Vienna - Due to its setting on the urban fringe, the project layout is based on a small-scale transition between urban and rural areas. The concentration of the project is an interpretation of the basic theme of European development from the 19th Century onwards. Three buildings are situated on the main circulation space of the site, each with a staggered facade on the narrow sides facing the entrance area. The buildings are arranged in a Y-shape that helps to reduce the depth of the site on a single building, and allows for a natural relationship between the sequence of urban density, and useable green spaces. The five-story apartment building from 1962 underwent comprehensive energy renovation, reducing energy consumption and improving living comfort significantly. Effective thermal insulation of the walls and a heating system supplied with energy-saving ROCKWOOL® technologies have lowered energy consumption by 67% for the entire heating season and reduced maintenance costs effectively. Padstow House

Situated in a wonderfully desolate, once-industrial landscape, Camel Quarry House sits above the shores of the Camel Estuary in Cornwall, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.   Its form is simple – a rugged exterior faces the quarry and estuary and a smoother façade looks out on to the more sheltered, rural landscape behind. The living area is on the uppermost floor, making the most of the extraordinary views, with a connecting terrace to spill out onto when the weather is fine.
