This work is about the complete renovation of an apartment located at the first floor of a semi-detatched villa built during the late 70s. This renovation take place as it happens that the owners’ daughter planned to come back home with her husband and daughter to live at the upper floor of hers parents’ family home.
The apartment has large dimensions and has been given new planimetric arrangment by the demands of the new owners, a cook and personal chef and an artis.CHEZ MORANDI take its idea by the needs of a home that should be suited
to hospitality, an open house, with wide and luminous spaces, designed to host friends, family and, at the same time, guests of the home restaurant: private rooms for the family are separated but not hidden from the rest of the house.
Between the spaces of the kitchen and of the home restaurant have been carved a big opening that allows the spaces to communicate and to work freely amonngst each room. Furniture has been designed following the needs of the chef in order to realize the most functional space. The big counter is made with white lacquered wood with a dekton top: both colour and material choices permit the chef to use it like a neutral background to show hers creations.
Kitchen is realized with a pinkish lacquered wood with Agglotech top: these colours and materials describe the eclectic characters of the owners.
The entrance features a metal wall which function is to separate the main room creating a discrete space.
The entrance has a smaller size thans to the metal wall which has the function to hide the kitchen area to whom who walk inside. Lighting is provided by simple spots: Sara on Track by Wever& Ducrè. Main areas, kitchen and relax area, are splitted from a filter area that allows transit to the service bathroom and to the sleeping area which is concealed, not hidden, behind a metal perforated door.
The living room and relax area is the widest room of the apartment, splitted only by the functions given by the furniture: the wall behind the dining table hosts a big photography by the artist Sebastiano Zanetti which is a sort of theatrical urban background for the table Soffio by Pianca Studio. In the opposite side of the room, the relax area is like a metaphisic space with the sofa Filiph Air by Art Nova and the design television Samsung The Serif.
The gaunt wall hosts one of the artwork painted by the owner.
Sleeping area is organized around a central space on which overlook two bedrooms and one bathroom: master bedroom shows as a backdrop the same metal wall behind which take place the walk.in closet: bedside tables by Kartell, Tolomeo lamp by Artemide and FlowerPot by &Tradition sorround a very simple bed.
The bathrooms are designed following the same principle. In spite of the rest of the house where white walls are a neutral setting for the furniture, here colour is the main actor: a playground of colour blocks, a game we like to play that is in constant dialogue with the artworks by MENT.
The concrete flooring is like a theatrical background over which stand out all the elements useful for living: a poor and neutral backdrop, a bare surface.
Atop of this surface we put some furniture designed by Beatriz Sempere, chairs and tapletops which intricate design oppose to the smoot and monolithic surface of the floor, realized for CHEZ MORANDI.
